Eerie Changes

Eerie PA is going through some changes.

Why you ask? Well, it boils down to that great leveler- Money. Eerie PA sells extremely well at book stores and through subscriptions (It even sells out in most places), but unfortunately that’s not where a magazine makes its money these days. We wish all the voracity and support we get from our fans was enough (it certainly is in our hearts), but without the money to print it’s hard to keep our heads above water.

The problem is advertising. It’s how every magazine makes its money, and Eerie PA is no different. We’ve been fortunate to have some great people and businesses advertise with us in the past, and help us cover printing costs, but the ad sales for issue #5 didn’t go as planned. In truth, we’ve never had a solid person handling our ad sales, and every person we’ve hired for the job seemed to flake out, and leave us in the lurch. Issue #5 was the killer. The person we hired was incredibly promising, but they suddenly fell off the face of the planet, and we were left with less than a month until deadline, and NO advertisers. Sorry to burden anyone with this, but we felt our fans deserved an honest answer as to what has been going on.

So the question is- What are we going to do about it?

The answer was very clear- Go digital. Don’t fret, Eerie PA will still have printed issues in some form at some point, but the current project is to keep the stories going via various digital mediums. The main place to find our stories will be in our digital issues. Instead of two issues a year (like we did in print) we will be releasing smaller digital issues on a more regular basis. They will be in Adobe’s PDF format, and will be free to everyone. We will also be adding more video and audio content to compliment the digital package.

So what are the benefits of the digital issues? Full color for one, and more room for photos etc. with there being no page count to worry about being another. It really does give us a lot of creative flexibility, and we hope to use that to our, and your, advantage. We also will extend our reach a bit and do stories from other places. PA will always be our focus, but if we uncover something truly interesting then we intend to share it. The print will come back eventually, whether it be an annual type issue, or a book we’re just not quite sure yet.

We will be refunding subscriptions to anyone who put an order in for the 2008/2009 (Issues #5 & #6) subscription. Give us a little time to make sure we cover everyone, but if some time has passed and you have not received a refund then please let us know.

We still want your stories and submissions! We all contribute to our shared history, and it takes all of us to keep it alive. Anything you deem worthy can always be sent to stories @ eeriepa.net

We will be updating the Eerie site with more stories, videos, photos and podcasts, so please check back for some Eerie goodness.

Site will be back soon!

After our 3rd bout with database problems we needed a little recharge.  The Eerie will be back momentarily.
